Joining the Author Referral program
It’s easy to join the program! Simply:
- Log in to the Octavo portal and click on the “Referral Program” link in the left-hand sidebar.
- Use the referral widget to share your unique link with people you know:
- Find the unique sharing link in the widget, and copy and paste it into a custom email, LinkedIn message, or any other channel you use to communicate with people.
- Via the social media sharing buttons, you can quickly share
Tellwell’s educational link via posts or direct messages.
- When someone clicks on the link, they will be taken to a landing page where they can submit a form to gain access to valuable free resources – we’ll track this as one of your referrals.
Where to share?
Here are just a few ways you can get the word out:
- Direct communication: use the referral widget as a starting point to send your unique link via LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, text messages, WhatsApp, or email.
- Post on social media: we have some handy default posts you can use from the referral widget, but you
can also create your own creative post.
- Mention Tellwell in a blog article on your website or in your email newsletter, and embed your unique
link when you mention us. (Make sure to comply with any disclosure rules.)
- Mention Tellwell when you are talking to authors. Simply refer them to a page on your website, e.g., “I’m
part of their Author Referral program. On my website mynewbook.com/mypublisher you can get information
about my experience working with them and get a free publishing guide plus 10% savings if you decide to use their services.”
- Invite Tellwell to contribute to a group, event, media platform, or community you are a part of who you think would be interested in learning about publishing. We can do guest blog articles, provide newsletter content, do workshops, webinars, public speaking or other presentations. Yes! Our Partner Certification Program is designed for book-industry professionals who want to expand their services, grow their revenue, and become trusted guides for authors on their publishing journey.
Your referrals are tracked automatically in your referral dashboard in the Octavo portal. You can see statistics on how many people have visited your unique landing page, how many have submitted the form to become a referral of yours, the status of each referral, and your earnings balance.
When one of your referrals signs up to publish with Tellwell, your reward will become qualified as payable 30 days after they sign up. Cash payouts are administered quarterly near the end of the 2nd month of each quarter, according to the same schedule that we pay out author royalties. By default, referral rewards will be paid to the same account we pay your royalties to, unless you request otherwise.
